This JDM Honda Civic EP3 Type R came in for clear underbody sealing, with the aim of protecting the underside while keeping its original finish visible. The work extended beyond the floorpan to include the wheel arches, hidden body panels and enclosed sections.

Access was a major part of the job. The wheels, arch liners, undertrays, front wings, bumpers, headlights and side skirts were removed, exposing areas normally concealed behind the exterior trim. This allowed attention to the inner wings, sill panels, bumper mounting areas and body seams.

With these parts removed, the exposed surfaces were cleaned and prepared for sealing. The exterior bodywork was masked, and sections of the exhaust were covered during application.

Clear protection was then applied across the prepared underside and exposed bodywork. The transparent finish keeps the existing paint, factory seams and panel details visible, preserving the appearance of the shell and allowing its condition to be checked during future inspections.

Protection also extended into the enclosed sections. A flexible application lance was fed through access holes to treat the inside of the chassis rails and other cavities, reaching areas that an external spray application could not cover.

The finished underside retains its light-coloured floorpan and clearly defined structural details, with the black subframes and suspension components visible against the body. The wheel arches and panels behind the removed trim received the same attention before reassembly.

With the body panels, lights, liners and wheels refitted, the EP3 retained its original exterior appearance, with added protection underneath and within the hidden sections of the shell.
