This B-series power steering pump, used in the Honda Civic EK9 Type R and Honda Integra DC2 Type R, underwent a full strip-down and reconditioning. The work renewed the internal consumables and restored the exterior finish. With these pumps becoming increasingly difficult to source, restoring the existing unit offered a practical way to preserve the original assembly.

The pump showed considerable signs of age externally, with oxidation on the cast housing, corroded fasteners and rust on the pulley. The work addressed both the internal service components and the exposed surfaces.

Dismantling separated the housing, pumping assembly, shaft and pulley, allowing access to the bearing, shaft seal and internal seals. All internal consumables were replaced, including a new shaft bearing, oil seal and sealing rings and O-rings.

The cast components were sandblasted to remove the accumulated surface corrosion and old finish. They were then treated to help protect the castings and keep the pump looking fresher for longer.

A new black pulley replaced the rusted original, while fresh external fasteners completed the appearance of the reassembled unit. The clean grey castings and black pulley retain a straightforward factory-style finish.

The completed pump combines renewed internal consumables with a protected exterior, preserving an increasingly scarce component used in both the EK9 and DC2 Type R.
